Monarch School for Unhoused Youth Receives $4 Million Grant

"Unhoused youth need to be defined by their potential, not their condition, and be provided opportunities to highlight their strengths and thrive," said Afira DeVries, president and CEO of the San Diego-based Monarch School Project, which on Friday received a $4 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to expand its programs for at-risk youth, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The grant will go toward increasing the school's after-school programs for at-risk youth, as well as its after-school programs for at-risk youth and its after-school programs for at-risk youth, the Los Angeles Times reports.

"Unhoused youth need to be defined by their potential, not their condition, and be provided opportunities to highlight their strengths and thrive," DeVries said.
